PLANT & BAKE SALE

Saturday, May 23, 10 AM - 3 PM

Beautiful plants and delicious home-baked items will be for sale that day.  Mark your calendar and help spread the word about this event!

The Youth will be selling refreshments during the sale (cold drinks throughout the day and at noon, hotdogs and nachos.)  This event is intended to be a parish-wide money-raising effort for the church.

Riverbend Nursery will be providing top-quality plants (see below) for the sale. There will also be some plants from our own gardens ( a variety).

We will need to have lots of baked goods to sell so please pull out your best recipes, put on  your aprons and head for your kitchen.  Please be in touch with Lora Kingma to let her know what items you can contribute for the Bake Sale!

This event should be fun for everyone and a great chance to get together for our church!  COME ONE, COME ALL AND COME EARLY!  You don't want to miss the best plants which the early birds WILL get (not worms)!

If you would like to contribute a few plants from your own garden, please pot them up immediately so that they have time to recover from the transplant and look good once again.  Only good-looking plants will be put up for sale.  We want to make a really good first impression with this event as it can be repeated if it is successful.

This Sunday, MAY 17  we will have the United Thank Offering In-Gathering.  Please bring your UTO boxes to church.  This In-gathering will be in recognition of the Feast Day for the Martyrs of Sudan.

The UTO VISION STATEMENT:  We will significantly impact the lives of women and children because of Christ's love.  To achieve this vision the UTO will use our monetary gifts to fund projects that implement significant change toward alleviating profound human suffering that the MDG's address.

This Sunday is the last day for Sunday School classes for this year. Classes will meet on the new schedule after worship.

There will be a meeting of the Education Committee after Sunday School.

Have you read the recent announcements about the SHARE program?  St. Thomas’ is now a host organization for SHARE (Self Help and Resource Exchange). SHARE helps stretch our food dollars.  Everyone is eligible to participate! Each month, participants pay $20 and complete 2 hours of community service and get $40 worth of food.  You can sign up for the food package during Coffee Hour. Stop by the registration table and learn more about the program from Janet Webster.

Remember, Food Bank Sunday is the first Sunday of each month! Please leave donations of non-perishable food items in the baskets located in the narthex. Thank you!
